It has definitely been an eventful weekend, even with us out of town. Maybe the best way to say that would be ESPECIALLY with us out of town.
We had a "getaway" weekend in New Orleans this weekend. We went and picked up our car on Thursday night. I have fallen in love with a new vehicle (sorry Altima). I loved our rental car, it was a Mercury Millan. On the way to NOLA Friday, we had a good trip. stopped in Slidell, LA to eat lunch (didn't realize we were only minutes from NOLA)at which time I suddenly realized I forgot to pack Ken's blood sugar medicene. This could be very needed considering we were planning a culinary experience! So we went to Walmart (which was conviently behind the Cracker Barrel we ate at). It took over 2 hours at Walmart waiting on them to get the percription from the doctor's office. So that was a bummer. It was not bad, just made for a long day. We didn't go much that evening... But we went to a good local resturaunt to eat, Huck Finn's.
It was so nice not having an alarm clock wake you up, but we still woke up at a decent time every morning. On Saturday we had a full day. We walked to the aquarium. It was good, we've been to so many lately that it was easy to compare it to the others, and it just didn't have as much in it. But it was a wonderful time. We walked down to the riverfront. They had some really great shops that I bought a couple cute summer tops at. Then we walked down to Jackson Square, it was amazing seeing all the artist showing/selling their work out on the square, and the street performers were great! We ate at Cafe Du Monde, the home of the beignet and cafe au lait. It was a fabulous sugar sky rocketer! After that we walked back to the hotel and relaxed for about an hour until we heard a lot of noise outside... looked down and there was a parade lining up!! Needless to say we rushed downstairs :) It was fun!!! My first NOLA parade lol. I caught some beads got roses handed to me, got a baton and had a blast talking to other people enjoying the parade as well! Then we headed out to find a good resturaunt for supper... The conerige sent us towards a resturaunt on Decatur called "Olivia" ... apparently we walked past it... because we were almost to the French Market when we decided to quit looking for it and just stop... so the next resturaunt we came up to was Scarlet O'Hara's, well, I'm a Gone With the Wind fan, so I thought it was very fitting. I am SOOoooo glad we stopped. It was amazing food!! We also met a nice couple from Mobile that we shared a good conversation with them.
Sunday was a very relaxed day, we visited the French market where I bought a very cute dress/skirt, almost bought 2... but was scared they wouldn't fit. Also bought some adorable earrings and am regretting not buying a handbag I wanted. haha I told you it was dangerous for Ken to take me here willingly :) Then we walked back around Jackson Square. Then Ken took me on a mule drawn carriage ride around the area... (that doesn't sound as romantic as a horse drawn carriage, but I assure you it was awesome). We spent the rest of the day laying around the hotel. We then had a extra ordinary culinary experience at Emeril's New Orleans.
This morning we got up and packed up. We recieved a text message that one of Ken's family friends had a massive stroke and was on life support. Before we were able to get out of New Orleans on our way home they took him off life support. Needless to say our ride home, though uneventful, was spent reminicing and thinking... God tells us that we are not promised tomorrow, but it sure does stink when it comes down to that time. So we are awaiting information about the funeral arrangements.
Another thing that happened while we were on our trip, was that satan attacked me again with a panic attack, I actually had two while we were gone. Prayer helped that. But it has become apparent I am still in need of prayer, it is a daily battle.
That has been my weekend.
